Risking life and limb to be charitable

I have a lovely drop-leaf table and chairs. It is a beautiful set that I have loved for years. However in my last move, one leaf BROKE off and so it has become a lesser wanted item for me.

I tried to give it away to family and friends. Not even DI would take it because the leaf is broken. I feel like I have trash for furniture.

But I love the set and just cannot take it to the dump.

Clearly it can be used by someone who wants to put the table up against the wall. Am I the only one who thinks like this?!?! Does everyone expect items to be in new condition always?

So I listed it on craigslist. In my mind I thought someone will enjoy it. Well now I have people who are very interested in it. NOW WHAT?!

Do I give my address to strangers? Do I now have to risk life and limb to let another enjoy this furniture? Do I need to call the police ahead of time? Should I update my will?

Maybe the dump isn't such a bad place for this furniture. Please advise.

If they wan to buy it you can decide to meet at different location. Like some kind of lame detective movie. “I'll leave the cash in a brown bag next to the dumpster in the alley. You bring the “goods” to the corner of 5th and main.”

Do you really think that your aged aunt is going to pack it all up and transport it somewhere??!?!

Get Jeff to do it.

Yeah right... back and forth as each possible candidate comes? Lets see "jeff can you come today at 5 and tomorrow at 5..."

Me and Jeffrey would love it Missy, we just don't have anywhere to put it! I guess we could put it at my parents!

I can sympathize. We sold our old TV and entertainment center on craig's list. And the first phone call wanted it, but couldn't make it over until a time when I knew Dave would be at work. It really freaked me out at the idea of some guy showing up at my house when I was home alone with the boys. Luckily things worked out and Dave was able to be home when they showed up to come and get it.

Good thing you have those ferocious dogs to keep intruders away, give my love to meg and ruby!
