Further, the fact that the song was invented for the Ski Crowd in Sun Valley, Idaho means it is an Idaho song. No wonder I love it. It is my Idaho upbringing that calls me home.
Lastly, my FAVORITE joke ever is about the death of the author of the Hokey Pokey. Let me tell it to you now...
With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week.
Larry La Prise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey" died peacefully at age 93. The most traumatic part for the family was getting him into the coffin.
They put his left leg in..... and then the trouble started.
Now I get to have my own Hokey Pokey Blog!!! After years of pain, and months of sleeping without sheets and blankets on my feet, I decided to get my bunions on both feet removed. I have heard horror stories and had waited till now. I finally decided that it was better to stop the pain. So I found a GREAT GREAT GREAT podiatrist to perform the removals. Dr. Schiffgen. Anyway, Feb 12th was the first surgery...the right foot. I decided to throw in an ingrown toenail surgery while at it. Might as well get it all done at the same time.
I opted to do each foot separately so that I could care for myself during the healing process. SMART MOVE!!!
My dear parents came down for the first surgery. They were angels to sacrifice their schedules and responsibilities for me. My Momma waited on my hand and foot. Bless her. My dad did all sorts of chores he could drum up to help in the process. He even brought me flowers to cheer me up. They are the greatest blessing in my life.
Ok so this was my first ever surgery (outside wisdom teeth and eye surgery). I had it done in a real hospital. I wore the funky hospital gown but it didn't have a gaping hole in the back. I had the best nurses, Louise was my favorite. However I was out before I even got to the operating room!
Here are the photos from before the 12th thru the 11th of March (before my left foot). I am grateful for the healing process. I am grateful for the tender mercies. I am grateful for a loving Heavenly Father. I am really glad I did the Hokey Pokey and put the right foot in... surgery.
Enjoy the photos. Some are a bit bloody.
Oh and I have already bought 3 pair of sandals that I could never wear before. So the pretty factor is the frosty on the cake.

I'm so glad you are no longer in pain, and that the surgeries were successful. I'm grateful you had an excellent doctor.
Your feet look beautiful!
We love you Missy.
I had no idea you went through all of that. I am so out of the Missy loop. Your poor feet! Ouch, I want to cry for them. I'm glad you're feeling better. This warrants way more than three pairs of shoes.
Wow, I had no idea of any of this. I'm glad that you will be feeling better.
so not surprised that your toes are so pretty.
your feet look awesome! i can't wait to see both of them soon!
I too am sorry to say this is the first I'm hearing of your feet woes. I'm glad things went well, and just in time for cute sandal season.
I love that I can picture Grandma waiting on you and Grandpa working away at any little project he can find, this might tempt you into surgery more often.
I know that you warned me about the bloody thing.... but... I had to look anyway.... i'm feeling a little light headed ...... maybe i'll.........just...........go lay down........ for a little ..............while.
But seriously you are a champ for doing both feet! we sure love you and pray for your fast recovery!
