Wachovia Woes

About 6 weeks ago, I started receiving phone calls from Wachovia Bank. I thought this was odd since I have NEVER done business with them. The first couple threatening messages were ignored. I decided they would realize they had the wrong phone number and stop calling me. I WAS WRONG.

I received several more and decided I needed to call and let them know they were making a mistake. The un-helpful assistant said it would be taken care of. So I gave it again a few more days of harassment thinking it would take a bit of time for the calls to stop. I WAS WRONG.

I then placed calls for several days in hopes of getting the correction made. When I would come home again to more calls, I knew my previous attempts had failed. I thought more calls would do the trick. SURELY they would get tired of my calls. I WAS WRONG.

After more than 5 calls and over a month of enduring these harassment phone calls, I decided a fax to the corporate office would help. I also contacted the Utah Consumer Protection Agency. I filed a complaint with them and included that complaint in my fax. I explained that I was not their customer. I never had been. I had not account with them. I thought clearly a fax stating the obvious would solve the problem for good. I WAS WRONG.

I faxed and faxed this same document set. Perhaps someone would get it and take care of it. I stated I wished to receive no further calls. I stated they were harassing me. I had clearly stated to stop calling me. I thought the calls would stop at this point. I WAS WRONG.

I received a call from a complete bafoon. She indicated she would resolve the problem but she needed my account number. DID SHE REALLY ASK FOR MY ACCOUNT NUMBER? I must not be making sense. She gave me a phone number to call her. But she didn’t give me her extension. After being lost forever on hold, I was at a loss.

The next step in my attempt to stop the madness was to send yet another fax with stronger language. I copied the previous fax and explained that these phone calls were harassing. I stated in bold “DO NOT CALL ME AGAIN.” I also said not to call me to apologize. Not to call me to explain the situation. DO NOT CALL ME. Clearly they wouldn’t call again. I WAS WRONG.

I received another call. This time from the “office of the president.” She indicated she had received my faxes. In my head I was thinking, “if you received my faxes then why are you calling me?” Thankfully it was voice message. She said she would get this issue resolved. I thought, “FINALLY no more calls.” I WAS WRONG.

Last night I received yet another call from the “office of the president.” She indicated that the calls should have stopped as of the end of February. Did she not realize SHE WAS CALLING ME? So as I type this, I say to myself, “This should be done.” And yet part of me thinks “I WILL BE WRONG.”

This is a message from the office of the president at Wachovia Bank posting to let you know that if you give us your account number we will stop calling to apologize.

Well, it appears as if both parties are guilty of the following:

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

I just hand over the phone to Anna and let her do the dirty work.
