I joke around that 2010 was the year of the Hokie Pokie. It seemed as tho every body part I put in the surgical center ended up being altered. Perhaps my body had reached a sort of warranty expiration.
In February I started the ball rolling. I had my right foot operated on. I had the bunion removed. I took two days of work off. One day for surgery and one additional to recover. Thanks to the holiday for the third day.
Then in March I had my left foot operated on. It too needed bunion surgery. Of all the surgeries for the year the left bunion surgery was the most painful. I took two days off for this surgery. One for the day of surgery and one more to recover. No holiday this time.
In May I began working on my Thyroid. This took thru August to find some progress. Due to this process my other surgeries were put on hold. This involved MANY doctor visits and blood work as well as ultrasounds, etc.
Back to surgeries, in September I had my right hand carpal tunnel done. I was the most worried about this surgery. My hands are my employment and my right hand is the key. I was grateful that I only needed to take two days off of work for this. One day for the surgery and one day additionally to recover.
Then again I started November off with the left hand carpal tunnel surgery. This was pretty easy. I took two days off work for this one. Again one for surgery and one day additionally to recover.
Finally in December, I had a hysterectomy. They had to open me up from my tummy and remove the parts. This makes the recovery harder. But for some reason I was really blessed. I walked quicker than anyone else. I went home a day early. I went to work one week after surgery. I recommend this surgery BUT REMEMBER TO WALK ASAP!!!
I had a total of $36,000 worth of work done. Due to my medical coverage I was blessed and only had to pay $2700. That is amazing to me. I am very blessed that the costs were minimal. I did that intentionally so that I could have it all done under one max out of pocket. But it did take its toll. I wouldn't recommend that many surgeries in one year to anyone!!
Here is the wrist/ankle bands to prove the 5 surgeries!!!

Wow, they made you "better, stronger, faster". My aunt is the 36 thousand dollar woman! O wait...
They have rebuilt you. They have the technology.
Glad to hear you're doing so well!
You know if you just wanted the wrist bands you can get those at amusement parks or water parks, they don't cost as much and involve no slicing into your body...just saying. We'd even come down and go to one with you.
